- pirogueExplorerThanks for the responses everyone! Topside rails are sitting at house may have to send them back or resale!
- AllworthExplorer IIThe rails don't bother me now that I'm retired. My previous truck had a custom plywood floor on 2x4 framing (just the height of rails) that locked in around the rails to give me a "slidable" surface.
- dave17352ExplorerI use to have rails now have bw hitch. I would not go with rails again.
- Alley_FoxExplorerMy truck had bed rails (and holes) when I got it, removed all that and had a B&W GN installed for less than $500 and found a barely used Companion 5th wheel for $400. Wouldn't go any other way, personally. Plus I like that 2" thick plate that ties the frame rails together.
- slarsenExplorerRails don't bother me, but then, I haven't had a history of hauling a lot of drywall or lumber, either.
- pbar34ExplorerIf you use your truck a lot for hauling, you'll love the underbed mount. I've had both and will never have the topside rails again. Sliding heavy/big items in and out of your truck is much easier without those rails in the way.
Phil - BB_TXNomadPrevious truck had in bed rails. New truck has factory prep under bed mounts. Happy with both but prefer under bed mount.
- broark01Explorer III have the under bed rail and do not regret going that route because, while I had to buy the hitch adapter, I only had to put 4 holes through the plastic bed protector versus cutting out the area for the rails. Also, undo 4 latches, pull the 5th wheel out, put the plugs in and you have the whole truck bed again.
- remoandirisExplorerNo. And I'd probably do it again.
