Break-Away Trailer Brake Wiring... ?

Hey all
I wasn't really too sure where to post this, but it seems like a simple enough problem that someone might be able to offer up some advice ?

I am trying to replace my trailer brake break-away on my '98 Jayco Eagle 293-RKS and I'm a bit confused on how to wire this thing up.

The old one only has two wires (light blue and black with a yellow stripe...possibly yellow with a black stripe ?)
The new one has three wires (blue, black, white)

Anyone have a quick solution to this wiring conundrum ?

Thanks !

Strange to have ground. Normally only two wire.

    The new break-away is
    Hopkins Towing Solutions #20050

    The old break-away is ESCO

  • Why would a ground connection be needed on a break-away switch? You're certainly not going to connect either your battery +12 line or your brake line to it.
  • Black.....power from battery
    Blue......to trailer brakes
    White.....ground
