Good question, and one I have pondered too. That is how it came from the factory. The switch is mounted with only one screw, so it doesn't take much to rotate it. For those reasons I have left it as is.
I would rotate it down inline with the anchor point. You wouldn't want the eyelet on the plastic key to snap instead of pulling the key.
