Broken Spring

+Well guess what I did, I made it home 175mi Axel did move a little but

we made it. I have an appoinment next week to get it fixed..

Its a 2009 HitchHiker with close to 70,000 mi. I guess I can't

complain.
  • ^^^^^ Thanks for the info on the upgrade. IS would be the ticket for sure but at a minimum replace all springs with US Made and replace all other components with the best available.

He upgraded to the Titan Disk Brakes Kit a few years ago, I remember him inquiring about them on the forum and we had a few conversations about it at the time.

I would seriously think about what your plans are for the RV.. IF you love it and plan to keep it for many more years, I would do like stated and upgrade to the Morryde IS system..

that system is hands down better, but at a cost.. And for you, being in MA, its a few days investment on top of the cost just in travel time and install time.

If your only thinking of keeping it a couple of years, upgrade all the components on the suspension, bushings, equalizers, springs, ect...
  • At 70K I'd get everything redone.

you can always go to the IS system from mor ryde and spend money....:-)
  • Yep, it ain’t fun. Over the years I’ve had to replace two while on a road trip. The last one, we found during a fill-up, and spent the night at the truck stop, 50 miles south of Lincoln, Ne. A front was coming through, with high winds, set a low temperature record ( low teens) that night. A quick trip to Lincoln the next morning, bought a spring, changed it out and back on the road by about 10:00 in the morning. I can’t figure out why most of our issues involve cold weather....sure glad that I travel with Carhartt Overalls! :D memtb

  • Glad you made it in OK.
Are you repacing the whole axle assy or just the spring pack ??
At 10 years old and 70k miles Its time to replace pins and bushings and check all the holes in the side links....hangers and equalizer bars for oversize holes.
  • Glad you made it home... I wanted to add my 2 cents worth, but didn't... I probably would have tried it too, for 175 miles. Yep, with 70,000 miles on it,
    you have done goood.
