bunkhouse

We are looking to purchase a bunkhouse. It has to be at least 40 ft and four season. We are full timers and have just out grown our 2011 40 ft cedar creek. Our kids need their own space. I am having a hard time finding anything so any suggestions would be appreciated

15 year old boy and we have a 15 month old girl. I've heard really bad reviews on the open ranges and I'm not impressed with the silver back, just feels like it would be a downgrade from what we have. I can't believe it's this hard to find a nice bunkhouse

We are in a similar boat as you. Currently selling our rig to get a bunkhouse. The largest and most reasonably appointed is the Open Range 427bh. Buy it used not new and make sure previous owner handled warranty issues. If you are willing to stretch your budget we did find a drv manhattan for 100k used, it is still available. We don't want to buy a mdt truck to pull it.

We also like the Palomino Columbus and Bayhill by Evergreen both are identical floorplans and way prettier on the outside. IMHO the open range has a look only the owners can love.
  • I have an Open Range 399. It will fit the bill. Not sure what negative reviews or things you have heard but I have had no major issues in 3 seasons. OR has a 2 year warranty. I don't consider OR perfect however they do stand behind their product.
I agree Open Range has a unique look their interiors and exteriors are not the same old dated look. They are actually innovative and think outside the box. The units have lots of standard features and are typically 1000-1500 pounds lighter than the competition.
Despite the negative reviews you have heard you have 3 posters promoting OR so far in this thread. 2 of them actually own an OR.
Check our the Open Range Owners forum if you want more feedback from actual owners.
  • In our quest for a new RV I was very very impressed with Open Range's innovative new layout designs.
  • We have the 344QB without the rear kitchen, it is 39ft overall, the rear room is pretty big without the OS kitchen, and our master is huge with the bed on a angle, not so much like the counter space, and it is 4 seasons.
  • Just picked up a Forest River V-Cross Platinum 365vstb. It has an enclosed and heated subframe.
  • I just bought the eagle premier today. I got it for $50k. Look on rvdirect.com. It's an odd way to get a trailer. But the savings are great.
