Buy new Forest RIver on clearance?

I am looking to buy my first Fifth Wheel for full-time living in Western WA. Budget is up to $30,000 and thought I would probably buy used. But the new 2017 Forest River Wildcat Maxx is now on clearance from $48,000 originally to $29,000 now. The models are fine for my use. I had thought I wanted two opposing slides in the living area but these just have 1 big slide plus another in the bedroom. Not sure how important this was to me - and any thoughts about one living area slide vs 2 opposing slides is appreciated.

I want to be able to sell the fifth wheel in 2 years and not lose a lot of value - and it seems like this fits the bill. Perhaps I could sell it to close to the 29,000 in a few years. Am I being unrealistic? What am I not seeing, or is this a great deal I should jump on?
  • Those are both good looking trailers!
    What options do they have?
If you like the floorpans, go for it.
  • Lots of federal, state, county and city CGs where opposing slides won’t work.
  • We’ve had both and prefer opposing slides with a kitchen island. Great use of space.
  • Models are F250 RDX and F252 RLX

Thx for the encouraging advice and practical thoughts about opposing sides vs 1 slide!
  • Well, it's a brand-new camper that meets your needs and is within your budget - why not? I wouldn't plan on selling it for what you bought it for, but you can always try. If it's clean, well-maintained and lightly used, you might succeed.

As long as you don't have any issues towing it with the vehicle you plan to use, it's certainly worth considering.

My personal opinion on opposite slides is, it makes the camper too wide - LOTS of floor space in between. Might make it harder to find campsites you'll fit into. Of course, if you plan to have a dance party or make a yoga studio out of it, then you'll need that floor space. :)
