b&W companion hitch

I have a 2014 F250 with the turn over ball mount. Trying to decide if I need the slider with the B&W companion hitch. Any experience out there?
Thanks

  • I tow with the rig in my signature. Short bed (6'6") and use the B&W Companion. No slider needed and I can get 90 degrees if I have to, but, I've never put myself or found myself in the situation where I had to. My Cougar has rounded corners and I could get to 90 degrees before I changed the pin box to the TrailAir Tri-Glide unit, and now, can probably get a little more than 90 since the TrailAir pinbox is ~6" longer than the stock pinbox which pushes the front of the trailer back by that much.

    How sharp can you turn?
  • I have never towed a fifth wheel with a short bed. I have had a long bed truck when I had the fifth wheels. BUT if I had a short bed truck I would spring for the slider hitch. Things like that are not worth it to me to have to be sweating bullets whenever I make a turn. JMHO

I'm in the same boat as your are. I have a 2012 ram 2500 with a turnover ball. 6'5" measured from the back of the cab to the inside of the tailgate.

Most people say I don't need a slider hitch because of the extended pin box and rounded corners.

I haven't purchased the 5er yet but probably will tomorrow. So kinda in a jam about the hitch.

  • what trailer do you have? some have nice rounded corners, some don't.

haven't heard of anyone using the B&W Slider.. but they must have made it for a reason.
