Andersen has 2 different balls for their hitches. When they introduced the red piece to create the funnel to make hitching easier, they also came up with a ball that has a longer neck area. This ball may help, if you don't already have it.
I have the funnel and am using the taller ball. Never had trouble till I added the funnel.
Now your troubles really don't make sense. The hitting the bed rails was mystery enough ,now you add the funnel to the mix. Hopefully you know how crazy this stuff sounds.
Coming from an owner, and user of the Andersen, your issues seem to be a mystery. You need to make a call to Andersen in Idaho Falls, Id. They should be able to help you, you need to get straightened out on what you are doing. The Andersen is so easy to use, its hard to believe you are having these issues.
To repeat, hitting the bed rails is an easy fix by trimming the back of the pin box . You never did reply back to confirm the pin box corners hitting the bedrail other then just saying it hits . It would hit no matter what position forward or back, or whatever hitch. Nothing changes the radius of the pin box. It would be nice if you would elaborate a bit on these problems.
