I've moved from a 4x4 F350 SRW with a Superglide and Super-rails, to a 4x4 F350 DRW. Time for a new hitch. I'm leaning heavily towards the B&W companion, but concerned it could be too tall..?? I know they are adjustable, but their lowest setting seems pretty tall. Anyone know the height difference between the Superglide and B&W when installed? Or, would anyone be willing to measure their Superglide or Companion from bed height to level head height?Thanks!

I don't sure which level mine is set at but there are three different sets of adjustment for height. I know I have 7 inches of clearance of bed to trailer and the trailer runs level. That may be true for my Hitchhicker and your trailer may be different.

This link shows the available 5th wheel B&W hitches. Each model has links for FAQs and instructions among others that should give you dimension info for each model including the adjustment ranges.

I had to raise mine to the highest setting last weekend as I kissed the bed rail pulling into the driveway with the new fiver. That set me at five inches of clearance. My old fiver with the Companion at its lowest setting I had seven inches of clearance. I my have to adjust my kingpin if I'm still hitting. So it all depends on your trailer kingpin setup and bed height. Its a great hitch would not trade it for anything. Happy Camping.

Here's an update to my original post. I installed the B&W and Companion 3500. On the lowest setting, my hitch is 17" above bed height. With my 5th Airborne installed in it's highest position, my trailer sits level when hitched. I have plenty of bed rail clearance at 9".

I have the trailair tri-glide pin box, and B&W puck hitch was 2" taller than the reese which was too tall for my F350 DRW. I went to the Reese puck. I didn't have anymore adjustment to raise the pin box, and nose high can make a miserable ride

Great to hear! I noticed you have air bags and a similar trailer to ours. Were the air bags to level the truck, or for comfort? We had bags in our SRW and not sure if I'll put them on this one or not...

The installation info for the Companion calls out Lowest position 14 3/4" and highest position 16 3/4" from base

the gooseneck part of the hitch is rated at 30,000 lbs as I recall.
the FW hitch setup makes a strong bond between the two and uses the truck bed floor for additional torsional support. Never heard of a B&W gooseneck ball breaking.
