The written was easy, the driving test wasn't that tough and backing up something this big is easy because you can see it and it does not react to input quickly. The only deduction I had was the "make this 90 degree right turn, come within 3 feet of the cone but don't hit it". I just clipped it with the tire. Just pay extra attention, they will ask you weird things. Mine was "what made that noise", it was a piece of plastic on the roadway that I ran over.
The pre-inspection was the part that I was not prepared for, the book I was working with had nothing about that. I made up as much as I could and got close but he wanted me to open the hood and check belts and hoses as well.
The hardest part for me was finding a DMV with a commercial testing station, there were only a few in San Diego. I had to drive past 2 other DMV offices to get to this one.
Also keep in mind that you are only required to fill out the self survey medical form, you do not have to get your Dr. to fill one out. (I think it's the DL546)
