I just got my NC Class A last month in Sacramento. My rig is 16,500. I had to take a 20 question test... easy! Just study the 5th handbook only. Then I had to do the pre trip inspection... This was easy too. This part of the test is NOT scored! They made me do the walk around and I was so nervous that I missed something. When I said I was done the DMV said that this is not scored, we want to see what you know and we show you the rest. Then the backing test. This part is scored. Had to back up straight, then at an off set into another lane then a 90 on the driver side.Then the road test.
Had to fill out a SELF medical questioner when I took the test to get the permit and will need to do that every 2 years and hired a local truck driving school instructor to be with me when I went to the drive test.
