I can't remember the last time I had to jack up the fiver to change a flat. As bad as our roads are out west, I can usually find a decent pothole to straddle and change the flat after loosening the lugs.

If it's in camp where the ground is soft, I just dig a hole in front of the bad wheel.

If I can't dig a hole or find a pothole, then I can always put down leveling blocks under my jack pads and use the six-point jacks to raise the whole thing up.

An 8" piece to spread the load.

A home built wooden ramp is easier, safer, faster...run the good tire up the ramp once the lugs on the flat are loosened.

I have a 5 inch high block that replaces the lift pad of my floor jack. (fits in the hole, so can't slide) I have put a block on top of jack, but that can get pretty sketchy, pretty fast. I have also put a floor jack on top of plank, (actually a steel plate on top of railroad ties) then backed vehicle over it.
I have a hard time standing under the idea a floor jack without enough lift to get the tire off the ground. Are you running 24.5 wheels?

We have a small 2.5ton floor jack.

Just put one of the 2x8 leveling boards under the jack then lift on the spring perch...problem solved.

I have used my leveling boards as a base for a jack. Also I have large wood blocks, 4x4 up to 8x8, that can act as a spacer if the jack doesn't go high enough. Sometimes just a couple short pieces of 2x4 will do the job.

I have also used "jackstands" when needed - lift up the trailer, put jackstands in appropriate places to hold it up, reset the jack and maybe add a wood block to lift the trailer higher. Wood blocks can take the place of jackstands - depending on the situation, sometimes they work better.

Usual warnings apply about working on soft ground with improvised materials.

when changing a tire on my trailers with leaf spring suspensions in soft dirt/sand I use a 12 ton shorty hyd jack under the axle tube next to the U bolt. Simply raise one end of the axle enough to do the change.The jack has a 10" X 10" wide base for side of the road work. The jack stays in my truck when on the road.

If I'm on concrete by my garage I use my floor jack raising one end of a axle enough to make the change.

A floor jack can weigh 80-90 lbs and gonna' be a bit heavy for lifting it off the ground under a trailer.

Some folks like to pull one tire up on a ramp hopefully raising the flat tire off the ground enough to make the change.
