- GoPackGoExplorerI have a 2013 F350 dually crew longbed and a 2014 36' Bighorn. I cannot open the trailer front compartment all the way but I can open it enough to get inside if it was an emergency. I just can't open it all the way and latch it 'up'. No clearance problems turning. I do have the Morryde pinbox.
I don't conside this to be a problem. In 4 years of full timing I have not had a reason to get in there while hitched up. Not talking about emergency situations, just normal day to day. - valhalla360NavigatorIn an emergency, could you open it enough to squeeze in and get at the battery connections?
Worst case scenario, you could use the jack from the truck and some blocks to get disconnected (with tires blocked and safety considred), so no it's not the end of the world. - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

Sorry everyone. Obviously I need to update my info. We now have a Heartland Big Country 3150RL. Our truck is a 3500 GMC long box. We have a trail air pin box with blow up tire Thingy! Sounds like the split door would be a good solution. Where would we look for one.
Front compartment door......
Is it hinged at top and swings up to open?
WHAT does it hit?
Sounds like the Trailair is the 'short' version vs Flexair which is longer
Shorter pin box moves front of 5vr closer to back of truck.
Doubt Carriage or Lifestyle spit doors would fit....doesn't seem to be an 'standard' size compartment openings/doors.

Another Vendor - ChuckV1ExplorerAs Old-Biscuit's examples you need a long pin box, I'm surprised you do not hit your bumper against you rig...
I have a very big front hatch door and have no trouble opening our up, as well can lower my tail gate on my truck and still have about 10 inches of space between the TV and 5th wheel ...
I personally would be looking for a new pin box if I had that problem but that's just me :)
Hopefully safe travels - corvettekentExplorerI can open front storage door but I only have 1" clearance with the door open.
- portlizExplorerTurning is fine. No issues there.
- ReneeGExplorerWe too have a long bed TV and can easily access our front compartment when hooked up. We were more concerned about the Superbumber clearing the trailer upon turning and it does.

- Dave_H_MExplorer IIInteresting, my Laredo has been like that since 2010 and I never gave it a thought.
- korbeExplorerIf our slider hitch is in travel mode, and if the truck and 5er aren't lined up the same, my front storage compartment is inaccessible too. That is why I put the hitch is maneuver mode as soon as I get to the campground, even if I don't need the cab separation.
