- Y-GuyModeratorOk I think we've totally headed off topic and into politics. If the original poster requests I can unlock and move to the Around the Campfire forum.

No one is complaining about the increased taxes or the outrageous gas prices in the state.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man oh man, I haven't laughed so hard in a while. Plenty of Kalifornians are complaining, but they have no recourse but to pay. The sheeple keep voting the same people into office. Like you said in an earlier post, folks need their cars so they pay for gas.
I complain virtually every day !!
I wish I had My Dads old house near the Oregon border, (or any place near a State border)
any major purchases were done out of State. I don't mind paying REASONABLE taxes, but when they go to support agencies like AQMD and welfare I draw the line.
If people are complaining how in the world did the tax increase PASS ON THE LAST ELECTION?
The politicians throw out the "doomsday" propaganda and the "sheep" buy into it.
A local issue recently passed a vote, the City Manager said the Senior Citizen center and City Pools would close, Crossing Guards, police and fire would be cut heavily. The "Sheep" went along with the tax increase.
Then it seems....the people are getting exactly what they deserve. - BobWandererExplorer

For all of you who dont see a problem with new CARB laws, I cant wait till the generator on your TH is so gooped up with smog equipment it wont run anymore. To require smog equipment on my kids 65cc MC is stupid, will make it run worse and will only be taken off by anyone who buys the bike. I wont use those stupid gas cans as they are worse and buy "fluid Jugs" to hold my gas. The pollution is negligible even at Glamis on a big weekend, and yes Ive been there many, many times. I would leave CA if possible but until I retire its here I will stay.
They have plenty of police patrols out there on the dunes. My son was stopped just to check registration on his OHVs. You take off the smog equipment and it won't be pretty. - thinkptExplorerFor all of you who dont see a problem with new CARB laws, I cant wait till the generator on your TH is so gooped up with smog equipment it wont run anymore. This is the hard part for some of us in CA. A large area (not population) can't stand the current leaders in California. However, the largest populations (L.A. and S.F.) will only vote for someone with a "D" next to their name on the ballot. Prime example of why Nancy Pelosi is still in office. And that's where we keep getting screwed out here. There have been some pushing to split the state, but that keeps getting nixed. Being from Orange County, I'd support it. - remoandirisExplorer

The best thing about living in California is listening to people gripe about how unbearable a place it is to live and how they can't wait to leave. Unfortunately the state must be full of people without any initiative because no one ever does and more stream in every day. Most of what people complain about are the very things in place to make it a place worthy to live. Doesn't make all of the rules right but it beats the alternative of no environmental regulations at all in the most populous state in the union. Check the recent news reoprt about the air quality in China. Reminds me of the Los Angeles area back int he 60's. Seven of the ten counties with the worst air pollution in the United States are in California. American Lugn Association "State of the Air" Puts a whole new meaning to the phrase "Suck it up".
People gripe because an unelected and unaccountable board is making random laws that do not fix the stated problems. Being said I agree that modern Carb restrictions on motor vehicles have resulted in huge benefits to air quality; the problem is that the board now, having picked the low lying fruit, is focusing on random "polluters" that will have a negligible impact on air quality.
BINGO! That was the point of my earlier post. I've lived in Burbank all my life, I remember the dark smoggy days when it hurt to breath at football practice (or just running around as a kid). But to sustain their existence (and jobs) they continue to seek out BS items to ban or regulate. Exactly how much benefit will everyone get out of this? "Bang for the buck" is the operative phrase.
The beauty of OHV toys is that if you don't wish to buy one because of the (potentially) increase costs this will cause, you don't have to. CARB (as you have admitted) has done a great job of cleaning the air in California. As far as the CARB members not being elected, the great state of California elected Jerry Brown and voted for increase taxes. This speaks volumes.
No one is complaining about the increased taxes or the outrageous gas prices in the state.
BTW-there are many other boards that affect you-such as the "Public Utilities Commission" who's members are not elected either.
I am sure glad I left there about one year ago.
