A friend of mine who is a very large car and truck wholesaler told me that anyone who adds a 5th wheel by welding or drilling holes will now have there trucks added to the Carfax. And a drop in blue book value.

X2, anyone relying on this outfit for good info is wasting their time- Yep it's not reliable. Repainting two right side doors on one of the DW cars showed as right side frame damage. Making mountains out of mole hills for car buyers everywhere.

What about drilling the bed? My B&W Turnover ball is a total bolt-on base, with 5 holes drilled in the bed. What about a receiver hitch?

OK I give up who cares............- Part of my point was that not all mechanics and installers report to CarFax. There is no legal requirement that anybody give them information. They CANNOT send you to jail for doing frame work without notifying CF.
This thread appears to have become pointless! - So . . . I just took delivery of a new F-350 with the factory 5th wheel prep package, where the factory 'inserts' the holes in the bed. Am I ok, or did I pay for this option just so I can get a bad carfax ????
Or does a factory drilled hole inherently not count as 'frame damage, welding or drilling' because the factory has a super-secret method of drilling a hole that makes it more better ????
