What I mean is you have the torn openings but you dont have a bunch of roughness where it was drug against a rough curb. It looks pretty clean around the openings - to me. Just some light marks where someone ran their finger over it a few times.
I dont think those are cuts as much as tears from the inside out.
I've had a few runs ins with sidewall damage. Even saw where a 1/2" combinaton wrench was jambed thourgh the side. In all those cases the tire quickly lost air and went flat. I also watched a video where they blew out sidewalls to show the handling one would experience. None of those cases ever involved a total and catastrophic failure of the tire - just air loss and a flat.
I imagine you knew immediatley when the tire exploded and pulled over? So it's not like you droved with a flat tire any significant distance.
Have you had a tire shop look at the "remains"?
