I think with that new of tire, it was likely a damage issue. If it was just a typical no name China bomb, possible failure? Carlisle has been building a reputation, using their newer design.
I agree on replacing with another Carlisle, unless tire shop can say tire failure due to manufacturing quality issue. There are many STs on the road, and IMO, they get a bad rap, when most tires get hot and fail, due to rapid air loss (road damage), or under inflated to begin with.
Thanks for posting your bad experience, and supplying pictures. Glad you did not have further damage!

No need to beat-up on the OP....or China.
Doesn't matter whether the Carlisle was mfg in the USA -or China-
the problem most likely is *ST* - mfg to *ST* specs in either country.
Jerry, I see you've been on here since 2012.
You have missed lots and lots of "tire talk" - including the many documented failures of GY Marathons - incl when they were mfg in the USA.
The "run under-inflated, too hot, too fast, hit road debris" - sounds exactly like the GY mouth-piece in the lawsuit GY lost as reported in the SP Times newspaper! (Always the users fault)
Sometimes posters relate how their ST tires provided good and long service.
Unfortunately, the posters with the opposite experiences far outweigh the former..:(
Some, like Fast Eagle, would praise ST endlessly - even though he would (and did) admit to multiple ST failures on his 5th.
Tire shop managers / employees.
The vast majority of these folks, will say if it's a *trailer* it
needs (or even requires) Special Trailer (ST) tires..:(
Clearance.
A poster (or the OP) stated a certain tire on a 15" rim would be too tall - and/or not leave enough clearance between tires.
Folks have solved that problem by going to a wider tire with the same rating as the taller tire.
Plenty of tire size comparison charts on the net to check what will work.
Anyway, comes down to preference and what you do - or don't - get "for a few dollars more" (incl peace of mind).
On edit: Is this the first example of the "new reputation" Carlisle is "building" - being a repeat of the old?..:h
Roll on!
Dtank...Yep been on since 2012. Have I read all which tire is best threads, or how about which hitch is best, what truck is best? No, I have not. Have you?? I hope not! :R
