Carpet in out fifth wheel

We just got a fifth wheel and I was just wondering what you guy recommend for carpet installation?
Also, Where would you recommend to get a pull-out couch from? something that is in style. A lot of places I have been looking are either leather or out of date.
Thank you so much

  • We like the minimal carpet in the living area of our KZ, though we plan on getting some throw rugs. Easy to roll/fold up and dump outside, if needed, and for storage. Also nice to have under your feet on cool evenings and mornings.

  • Depends on what you like. Personally we like carpet. And our carpet lasted 10 years in our last fiver. We found a rem and paid for an installer to do the job. Took him most of two days and that was with me taking all the furniture out.
Couches? Thats a tough one. RV doors are generally pretty small, so getting a regular couch in could be a choir. Consider instead a couple of smaller recliners.
  • I would NEVER recommend carpet in an RV. With as much in/out that is done when you are camping, it is just a dirt grabber. I would suggest installing the "luxury vinyl" or something of that sort. You can lay down some throw rugs for warmth and then wash them. Most manufacturers are only putting that in RVs now. It just makes more sense to have something that can easily be swept clean. Check out Lumber Liquidators or another flooring company, even Lowe's and Home Depot stock the vinyl planks now.

I don't know what kind of fifth wheel you have, but if you have slides, that complicates it somewhat. Call your local dealer and see who they use for flooring or call your local flooring place and see who they use for installs. Make sure they know how your slideout works before they start installing flooring.

There are many places you can find couches - your local furniture store, IKEA, online, etc. Take measurements and find out how much room you have to work with and then start looking. Wayfair, Walmart, IKEA are online and all will have measurements listed. If you go to a furniture store, be sure to take your tape measure with you.
