Carriage-Cameo by Crossroads?

I noticed where the names of Carriage and Cameo are coming back. As a owner of a 2011 Cameo this made me a little sick. Knowing they could probably never get the quality in their units as the original Carriage. The articles don't say but probably a Lippert frame. My goal will be a new Lifestyle, using the old Carriage quality.

I doubt very much if the public will be fooled, especially those who know the RV business. Copies of the original usually are just that... cheap copies. I am the proud owner of one of the last Cameo's that came off the assembly line and love it. When companies spread their products too thin, then quality does suffer.
  • Had a dealer for the LifeStyle fifth wheels tell me that the previous owner of now defunct Alfa fifth wheels went to Lifestyle and asked for them to use that name on their newest line of fivers, the Alfa Gold's.

Guess since he still owned rights to the name he surely could let Lifestyle use it.
  • As a past owner of 2 real superb Carriages and still the owner of an excellent Carriage Carrilite, Thor/Crossraods building and using the Carriage/Cameo also sickens me and my wife also. Thor isn't known for Real Carriage type quality nor is Crossroads even remotely. Yes, They have the rights to use the product names as they'd bought them both. A name doesn't make the product good or even acceptable, it's the owner's satisfaction and the product's manufacturing reputation of quality over a long time that does!

I/we are in the same camp of Lifestyle (who employ's so many of the original Carriage workers) is being our next high end (Carriage Quality) 5th wheel made with the in house well proven strong stacked tube welded frame and the coack being built the same as Carriage did. Paying over $90,000 for an RV says it darn well must be of very high quality materials, engineering, and build and no excuses or cut corners period.

Thor/Crossraods will have a lot of proving to do and have a lot of very happy owners satisfied before we'd ever entertain a thought of giving them a slight consideration. Maybe 10 years will be a min!

Actually, I/we'd much rather have a Jayco Eagle than any Thor RV I've seen so far. Even Jayco has a 2 year warranty they honor rather than a one year and does so at about 1/2 the purchase price of their RV's of the same size. Jayco built their reputation and have maintained it for getting close to 50 years now. Started in 1968 and that was many decades before Thor or Crossroads was as much as a pipe dream or thought.
  • They will never be like the true Cameos. In typical Thor fashion, they will try to ride on the unsuspecting buyers lack of knowledge and push the past glory of the name while they cheapen the unit and cut quality.

As a former Cameo owner, it makes me sick.

I know what you mean as a former Carriage owner and now a Lifestyle owner, myself.
I seriously doubt that the "new" Carriage is anything like what you and I are used to. The quality of Crossroads seriously deteriorated when a former Carriage guy went there and shortened warranty period, etc.....
Crossroads/Thor purchased the Carriage/Cameo names at the Carriage auction.
From what I have seen of the units (while very attractive and offering some higher-end options), they appear to be rebadged Rushmore fivers with upgrades.
What I have read of the Rushmore line and from posts on the forums, Rushmore quality is lacking.
I think its very sage to say that the "new Carriage is nothing like the old. Like most, its built on an I-beam frame. Safe travels, Phillip
