Sounds like a plan. If you plan on stopping outside DC in Maryland, check out Hagerstown-Antietam KOA. It's a small park but Big-rig friendly and real perty to boot.
as their web site warns, do NOT follow your GPS to the campground. read the route they show/publish.
bumpyh - ADKSnowbirdExplorerGPG52- For years we drove down to Myrtle Beach from Rochester, NY on vacation. Another fellow and his family did the same at a different time of year. We were always comparing noted to find the best route to avoid the big cities and as much traffic hassle as possible.
We finally came to the conclusion that the best route was taking 15/390 to I-81S then,
From I-81 near Strasburg, Virginia, take exit 300 on the left to merge onto I-66 E toward Front Royal/Washington
Take exit 28 to merge onto US-17 S/Winchester Rd toward Warrenton
Continue to follow US-17 S
Merge onto US-17 S via the ramp to Fredericksburg
Continue to follow US-17 S
Merge onto I-95 S via the ramp to Richmond
It works for us by car or pulling our previously owned 38' Fiver. Some two lane roads but easily manageable and definitely Virginia scenic.
You wouldn't have to come East to hit 390S of course but the chute from I-81 to I-95 is well tested. - ADKSnowbirdExplorerI just sent a note to Chuck at RV Travel to see if he would include a note about CB13 in the weekly newsletter. Can't hurt.
- fishingbob61ExplorerI wonder if Marcus Leamin from GS would get involved with CB 13 and put in mag. Camping world could pick up on it also, and get the word out CB13 for RVs.

Wonder if a spare tire cover manufacturer would consider having one with a decal indicating CB-13? Count us in... Foxtrot XM473679.(Sorry just being nostalgic.):-)
Washington Beltway:
Grady-23, we are coming down from Buffalo, NY to Virginia Beach,V, around Memorial Day, Any insight on an alternate route to avoid Washington Beltway traffic.
GPG-52 - ADKSnowbirdExplorerThanks, that might be a good one for the next time we go up I-81. We will be hugging the East Coast on this trip and thinking about stopping at Holiday Park in Greensboro, MD. Have you ever tried that one?
Then Delaware Seashore State Park at Rehoboth Beach, DE and then Shady Pines in Galloway, NJ for our Jersey stop and a visit to Atlantic City. - rattleNsmokeExplorerSounds like a plan. If you plan on stopping outside DC in Maryland, check out Hagerstown-Antietam KOA. It's a small park but Big-rig friendly and real perty to boot.
- ADKSnowbirdExplorerTo be honest we hit the Beltway once a few years back, missed our turnoff and had to go around again! Swore that was the last time for the Beltway. We are going to try something new by going up 17 after Myrtle Beach and try and stay a couple of nights each in Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey before heading home to the Adirondacks. Any input on that route would be much appreciated. We usually cross over from 95 to 81 at Fredericksburg but want to add the 3 Eastern States to our travel map.
- Grady23ExplorerSnowBird-- Your probably already aware --- AVOID the Washington Beltway I-495/95 between 5:30AM and 10AM and from 4PM untill after 7PM. The place is a ZOOOOO! That's not much of a daytime window. Most try to come through between 7PM and 5AM. I've lived around here all my life and the traffic is as bad as it EVER has been and I almost 65.
- ADKSnowbirdExplorerCount us in. We'll be heading up the East Coast soon.
