I'm looking at purchasing a Cedar Creek 34re next year and would like to know how many people are towing them without a slider hitch.I will have a 3500 SRW short bed Chevy and really don't want a slider.So I'm looking for owners of CC input and what hitches you have used and issues you may have had(broken back window) with a non-slider in a short bed truck.Thanks,

You might not want one. Some people say you don't need one. Some others said they didn't need one right up until they took out a rear cab window.I decided on better safe than sorry 13 years ago and installed a 16K Pullrite Superglide in my F-350 short box. Two things stand out about this hitch.#1) The King Pin Latch Lock Jaw assembly wraps 140 degrees around the pin- totally enclosing the pin in the latch.#2) There is no second guessing a turn, let it be a corner or U-turn.Just do it knowing 5er will slide back 16 inches automatically.There are other options to look at, but, after 13 trouble free years with my Pullrite I guess I'm a little biased.C.B.PS As you see in my signature my Son Duane also pulls a CC. With a Superglide also.

I had a Pull Rite slider on my last truck. I bought the 16 unit that fits in std. bedrails. Not much more expensive than any other hitch if you shop it online. The local dealers wanted a small fortune for one. Trouble free. never worried about it hitting. I recently bought a new Cedar Creek. You will be very happy with your choice. Not real flashy but great solid construction, name brand appliances and furniture. Mine was delivered sawdust and wood chip free, wires are neatly bundled as is the plumbing. A very nice rig.B.O.

I tow my Cedar Creek with a short box Truck and you have to pay attention when backing up or sharp corners. I have come close to needing a sliding hitch once or twice in the last three and do think about buying one every so often. Do you need one will depend on how tight of corners you will need take.

I have a Reese manual slide hitch. Have never had to use it. But you never know if you'll have to use one.

Had a slider on my '03 F250. Only used the slider 2-3 times at most in 11 years. Sold it to tech at RV dealer. Have non slider Reese 16k 4-way swivel head now. ONLY once did I have to be real careful upon backing as site was probly the tightest one I have ever backed into (45* angle) in 13 years and that was last month.

We have a CC Silverback 35QB4 and a short-bed Sierra...we tow with the Andersen Ultimate Aluminum hitch and have absolutely NO issues. I can hitch up and turn at 90-degrees if I need to. Note that our Silverback has the carved out front cap.

I have a 2016 36CKTS and a long bed F350.

Right after we got it we stopped at a large rest stop and spent a little while taking pictures and jack knifing the unit. We can easily go 90 degrees BUT there is about 8" of clearance between the back window and the trailer, and remember the long bed is about 18" longer than a short bed.

I have a '15 Cedar Creek Silverback 29RE, an '02 shortbox Chevy, and a slider type hitch. I've owned the hitch in this truck since '03, pulling a Cardinal 5th wheel prior to the Silverback, and have never ever used the slide feature. In fact, the Silverback's nose is sculpted in the corners making it even less likely I'll ever have to use the slider feature.

I have a short bed with a manual slider. Have NEVER had to use it for my signature rig in the 7+ years of hauling....and the trailer has been very very close to 90 deg....the dealer did it to show it could be done without using the slider.

We are also interested in the 34RE and 34RL2.

Both truck and rig are older, but I have never (as of yet ;)) needed a slider hitch. Been in some pretty tight maneuvers and haven't really been close to taking out the window.
