- jalichtyExplorerThe best route would be to go on I-80 from Cheyenne to Rawlins, about 150 miles, turn right and take the highway to Lander, making sure you turn at Three Forks and don't go straight to Casper. Once in Lander, go to Dubois, Moran, through Grand Teton National Park, past Yellowstone Lake and then right to Fishing Bridge. About 120 miles from Rawlins to Lander, 75 to Dubois, less than 40 to Moran, about 50 miles to the entrance to Yellowstone and then about 40 miles to Fishing Bridge. No real steep mountains to climb and new road from Dubois to Moran, mostly. Another way would be go take I025 from Cheyenne to Casper, about 175 miles, Casper to Shoshoni, about 95 miles, than through Wind River Canyon to Thermopolis, turn left to Cody, over Sylvan Pass, very steep, and right down to Fishing Bridge. Mileage would be about the same, with a much steeper climb over Sylvan than over Togwotee after Dubois. Plus, you get to see some of Grand Teton National Park if you go through Lander, not if you go through Cody.
