China bombs

The only tire I ever had blow out was a Goodyear 614. I now run Sailun 637 all steel Chinese tires at a third the price. Two years, no blowouts. Who would have thought?

When the Chinese see the premium prices companies like Apple get for their Chinese made products, why wouldn't they want a piece of that action for their own companies? It's only a matter off time. The Japanese and Koreans were also seen as knock off artists when they started exporting to the West.

Always blame the tires, never the way they are driven. yesterday going down I94 in Wisconsin is was passed by a truck pulling a New fiver. He was a contract carrier delivering a new trailer with Indiana transport liscense. I was going 74 mph.He passed me quickly. Tires are rated in most cases and all ST tires at 65 MPH.Yes I know, they may have been Michlien ribs, but do you really beileve a brand new trailer would have them? So here we are, a tire that is driven in excess of it's rated speed and you want to blame the tire maker (China bombs)

You can can China out of the equation with the well regarded Maxxis 8008 ST tires made in Thailand. Far cheaper solution than upgrading to 16." I replaced my Load Range D Chinese tires with LRE Maxxis tires the second season and now have about 12,000 trouble free miles on them.
Before all the "but can your wheels handle 80 psi" comments, you can run them at 70 psi and have more capacity than the old tires at 65 psi.

Only tire I ever had fail was a US made Goodyear Marathon. Think about the number of trailers out there with never an issue with their ST tires. In fact a good friend of mine has a 30 ton equipment trailer and every tire ever used on it has been chineese. They wear out and not explode just like US tires in the past

After going through several sets of China made tires, and having them come apart from the inside (They actually had bubbles on the inside casing). I switched to "made in USA" Goodyear G614's and have not had an issue since.

Its funny how the same tire has had different names over the years. Long before china made tires and ST tires were all made in the USA we called them ST maypops. Now because their mfg'ed in china their "china bombs".

China makes some good P and LT tires so its not the fact their made in china.

The difference was with Japan there were still other options available domestically! With the globalization era most North American manufacturing has been discontinued!

Scarier than cheap tires is the fact that many of our food products are now coming for over seas!

All good points but Chinese industry will have to evolve or just remain a supplier of cheap stuff. I think they are a lot more ambitious than that.
