Operate the wall switch and have someone go underneath and gently tap on the end of the slide motor. I dont know the construction of the motor but if it has brushes and they are worn or sticking tapping on it may get the motor going. This is not a fix, just a way to isolate the problem.
I say gently because some motors have permanent magnet fields glued in the housing. Too hard of a tap can shatter the magnet and the pieces collapse against the armature and it's all over. Also check all the wiring connections as there are often twist wire connectors exposed to the elements.
