It doesn't take hardly anything to pull the pin out of the E-brake switch. So I figure if the hitch head ever breaks away from the truck, the hitch head itself is more than enough to pull the pin. I see no reason to change my practice.
This is quite different than the receiver hitch on a pull-along trailer.
