comfortable ride in an one ton dually??

Time to go to a Class A. Then, she not only has the comfort of the seat and the fantastic view through a huge windshield, but also the option of getting up and moving around when necessary (something no pickup can offer). My wife has a bad back and the ability to move around a little as needed makes her life a lot better. Face it, no pickup is going to ride like a Volvo!

I watched the company video, but one thing I didn't see was the seats ability to oscillate. Do you know if it does? Some like it, some don't. In my semi, I like cuz it takes the jarring out of the ride IMO.

We have a 1 ton dually,long box, four door,HD. It's a large truck and doesn't ride like a Cadillac and never will.My wife and I have those horse shoe cushions on our seats. The truck is a diesel so it's a heavy beast. My wife calls it "the tank". I have Michelin tires on it and I inflate to 80 psi when towing the 5er. I drop that down to 50/55psi when not towing. It's our daily driver. My wife can drive it if needed but without the 5er. There is a noticeable difference in ride compared to my son's 1/2 ton. It has the stock shocks and suspension, but again, it's an HD truck and rides like one. It pulls a 35 ft 5er and that's why it was bought.We are both in our 70s and she notices the rough ride but we accept it for what it is. The truck is GMC Sierra, 2011 model.

If you are replacing your shocks with Bilsteins I found their initial compliance was stiffer than the OEM shocks creating a rougher ride. I like the shocks though as the ride is more controlled.

If your trailer is generating considerable bouncing and chucking forces and delivering them to your truck's frame then you should consider a soft joint between the trailer and truck. Our air hitch separates virtually all trailer generated forces from the truck but you still feel it when the truck goes over the bumps. Hard to get around that when you have an extra three thousand pounds in the bed. My tow was worse than bad with a solid hitch, now it is better than good with the air hitch.

How much pressure are you running in the tires? Many people who don't know any better just inflate all tires to the maximum pressure listed on the sidewall. This often leads to an overinflated tire for the load it's carrying which results in a harsh ride and increased tread wear in the center of the tire.
Weight your axles, consult a tire load inflation chart, and inflate the tires accordingly. It could make a significant difference.
Are you running good tires like Michelin or other name brand or are you running cheap generic tires?
Riding in a new dually likely felt terrible because it was empty, I would assume, on a test drive. It also could have had overinflated tires as well.
My 2005 Chevy dually rides quite well in my opinion but it is always loaded to at least 9,000 pounds and frequently closer to 11,000 pounds.

A diesel pusher will work wonders for her. She can get up and move around or she can go lay down. And those diesel seats are like LazyBoys.

I have gotten good advise here about this issue of comfort and have done a few things like air ride seats and I am now replacing the shocks with the best out there I have been told.
My wife needs a better ride. Not sure of what to do next. There is Kelderman for about 2k.

Buy your wife a 4" seat cushion with a horse shoe cut out and a lumbar back support. Go to a medical supply store. Will make ride much more comfortable. Buy one for yourself also. When you are not towing, lower the tire pressure 20 lbs.

You know what they say, happy wife, happy life.
If ride is still rough with over 3k in the bed there are are several things you can do like tire pressure, air bags, air hitch, cushion pin box, shocks of FW.

Never be “comfortable” in comparison to a sedan. My DW isn’t happy with the Silverado 1500’s ride. When I note she’s nodded off I slow down. Me? I love the feel of the road hitched and unhitched! And the dual pipers too.
