I have the tri-glide and love the hitch. It performs far better than the 5th airborne on my prior 5er. However, there have been a few failures I've heard about with tri-glide with the bottom plate breaking off which may be why it was discontinued in favor of the flexair they offer now. One in our group just busted yesterday. (I guess everything goes to heck when Lippert takes over :) as Lippert bought out Trailair several years ago).
But for comparison, we have also had several of the Mor-Ryde sheer springs fail and separate from the steel plate in our group.
Just FYI - you are doing the right thing reaching out to research.
