I needed new tires on one of the toys and even though I like the Big Horn original, they have priced themselves out of my comfort zone. Someone recommended Duro Power Grip radials and a little research showed they were darn near duplicates of the BH. Both are 6 ply, both have the same tread, but the big difference is the price, with the Duro being $100 less for a set. Here is a side by side visual of the two, with the BH on the right and the new Duro Power Grip on the left.

A friend put the Duro Power Grip tires on his RZR and everyone liked the looks etc. The problem is that as the old saying goes you get what you pay for because they didn't last near as long as the Bighorns.

I have heard that and also heard just the opposite. I know the BH I have now are done at 2500 miles. I also got a set of Sedona Rip Saw tires for the Yamaha and I really like the tread on those, but do not like the 4 ply rating. We'll see how the 2 do wear compared to the BH I have been running.

big horns are made by maxis. i have found all maxis atv tires, no matter what tread, to be better riding and lasting than any others i have used.big horns are radial and come in both 4 ply and 6 ply. not a big deal, unless you ride a lot of rocky country or rocky stream beds. the 6 ply is well worth it thenmore to the tire than the tread pattern. as stated above tread might look the same but big difference in tires.personally would go ahead and spring for the big horns. you know what to expect from them. flats on toy, take fun out of a ride in a hurry.

I had the original Big Horn tires on my 05 Sportsman 500, the day I sold it those tires looks dang near like they came off the factory line, that was after some 6 years of hard riding too. Those were amazing tires. Now I recall hearing that there were the Original Big Horns, then the Big Horn II - from what I recall the new big horns don't last as long as the original, because they used a softer rubber so they would actually wear out more. I' not totally sure, but if I were shopping I'd still be looking at the Big Horns. Have you priced with Rocky Mountain ATV?

The $100 price difference is with RM ATV. I almost always shop there for both the best price and free shipping.That model Duro is a RM ATV exclusive, from what I can determine.

Would be curious on how they last too. Saw those along with the GBC Dirt Commander online at Costco and also read a favorable review on the DCs but the review is now about 4 years old. Although the DCs are 8-ply. http://www.costco.com/Greenball-Dirt-Commander-ATV-Tire-.product.100044199.html

Bumping this thread up...

Just bit the bullet and spent the $550 on a new set of shoes for the Grizzly 700. Went with the 26" BigHorns as it is rare to see someone disappointed with that tire along with I will only be riding trail in the Rocky Mountains, no mud pits for me.

I will be mounting them to an additional set of OEM SE wheels I picked up so I can maintain the OEM plain wheels with Dunlops for pavement plowing duty.

Can't go wrong with the Bighorns. It's about the perfect tire for the front range as well as all of the Rocky Mountains. There is a reason that so many have copied the BH's. I have a set of 26.5 Rockers on my 850, but still have a set of BH's mounted on the OEM aluminum wheels. They go on every spring when I head out to Moab. NO better tire on the slick rock than the Bighorns. Rockers don't do so well out there.
