Considering Fifth Wheel Purchase

I currently have a very nice truck camper which I am planning to keep. However we are seriously considering adding a 5er to our RV "stable".

I have been researching on line and have narrowed it down to the following two possibilities:

Jayco Eagle HT 26.5RLS
KZ Durango 1500 275RL

I would appreciate any firsthand feedback on the two and why one might be better than the other.

I am also open to other brands but nothing any larger than the two units listed as we love to camp in NF sites and similar places.

Thanks for any info.

Jim

My frist one was a KZ, the second a Keystone. Now I'm back to KZ.
We had our first KZ for eight trouble free years and expect the same with this new one.

Other than the quality interior appearance and feel, it is the little things such as storage lock upgrades (non 751), interior light fixtures allow either one or both lights turned on rather than both on or both off, and the stove hood vent that actually vents outside.

What sold us on this floorplan is the kitchen and shower.

The two year warranty is a plus.

There are a lot of happy Jayco owners here but I do not have first hand experience.
  • We have a 2012 Durango 1500 2857 and love it. I would buy another KZ in a heartbeat! We've had it for just over a year and have had only minor issues with it. Also KZ has a 2 year warranty.
  • I have a KZ Spree 305BHS and so far I've found the quality to be pretty good. I know that really doesn't help you a ton on the 2 you're looking at but maybe it'll give you and idea on KZ trailers in general. We've been pretty happy with ours so far....actually very happy with it.
  • Take a look at the Arctic Fox 27-5L, If your going to Alaska this one is built tough to handle the abuse of rough roads.
  • We also are looking at the Jayco 26.2RLS. I would like to hear any cons to the unit. It certainly looks right for a lightweigth fifth wheel.

    Thanks in advance...
