- TugCEExplorerBuying the truck camper was a good idea. Now you should have everything you need to turn the sleeper into a RV. As was stated registering as a RV is a great idea.
Where did you find the truck? I would love to pick something like that up and do something like you are doing. Once you are done you will have on hell of a towing beast plus being able to just use the truck for short trips is a big plus.
Please keep the updates coming it's great to see someone working outside of the box doing a project like this. - rehoppeExplorerCertainly Won't be over loaded then.
Have you had it up to highway speeds yet?
I thought maybe you were going to pull a 40' 5er of some sort. With all the stuff in the sleeper you can maybe register it as a Motor Home even. Don't know what Pa does to trucks for taxes, so may not even be necessary. - SecuritiExplorer

Remember to keep your hitch to the rear. It's easy to overload the front axle, If/when you add more weight.
It ought'a stop good and pull a house.
What's it got for power, trans., and gearing?
Thanks. It has a NTC-350 cummins. (Jake Brake) 7 speed spicer transmission. Not sure bout rear.
That oughta handle the 'light load' you are towing. Does it have a 2 speed rear end?
Are you goiing to add a big water jug to the rear to add weight (rear axle) and allow additional Fresh Water capacity?
Now you really don't need the extra axle.
It has a single speed rear. We are gutting the sleeper. And putting RV stuff in it. Fridge, furnace, hidden commode, sink, etc. I bought a ten foot truck camper for these parts. It was alot cheaper then buying parts separate. - rehoppeExplorer

Hi,
What a neat project! And to find a class 7 with only 2,500 miles on it. I bet the whole truck cost about what you can sell the truck bed for. Even that huge pump can be sold for a tidy sum.
The TV show Monster Garage converted a limo into a fire pumper, and staged a fire at the training center in Long Beach California.
Fred.
Thanks. I paid $3000 for truck. Sold tank body to junk yard for $2500. And still have the ft pump plus all the dimond plate. Defently got a good deal on it. :) - Golden_HVACExplorerHi,
