Corner of awning came Separated from rail

We have a 2015 Keystone Avalanche. The second or third time I extended the awning out, I noticed the corner right above the door had come separated from the rail that is alo?g the top of the RV. It is about 3 inches that has come out.

I have noticed maybe two other awnings in the park with the same issue. I am curious if it is something I could fix myself or if it is something bigger than it looks. The awning is tight the rest of the way down so pulling it back to the rail seems difficult. It is irritating just because it is new and already seems damaged. There have been no winds while it's been out, I didn't notice the issue during the walk through, so will it be hard dealing with getting it done through the warranty? All I picture is being blamed for high wind damage.

Any ideas, help, or advice is appreciated.
  • With awning extended or partially extended push up on the awning roller tube. Prop it with something to maintain the slack.

Thank you for the responses. What would be the best way for me to get slack inthe fabric? It seems like during both retracting and extending the tension is very tight.

    Thank you for the help.

I am all for doing most stuff myself... In this case I would advise you to get a list of possible OTHER issues that need to be addressed and take it to the dealer...

2015? Have the dealer fix it! Chris

  • Put slack in the awning fabric, force the welt back into the slot with a plastic putty knife and crimp the rail with pliers. Be careful on the ladder.
  • If you are talking about the welting and vinyl pulling out of the track, then it needs to be slide out the end and then fed back in correctly. Then the track needs to be pinched closed a bit near the end. Chris
