COUGAR 327 RES LANDING LIGHT

We have just taken possession of our new 2014, Cougar 327 RES.
The unit comes equipped with an LED landing light to accommodate hook up in the dark. The light is operated by it's own switch, next to the Landing Gear extend and retract switch positioned at the front of the trailer
LANDING LIGHT QUESTION: LANDING LIGHT QUESTION:
How do you turn off the landing light. We have disconnected the battery power source at the battery main switch and have disconnected the shore power (unplugged the unit. I have also disconnected the s Landing Light power switch.... however the light remains on! What are we missing? Is this light solar powered?

Any insight would be appreciated.

  • Eureka, it was indeed the remote overriding the toggle switch. :S
Thank you all for your response.
Now where is the camping weather...
We are calling for snow tonight...:C

  • It's the remote control. If you turned the light on with the remote, it has to be turned off with the remote. It bypasses the hard switches. This is how it is wired on my Cougar.
  • If you have a Remote Control, there is a button on it for the Docking lights. Had the same issue with mine and did not know why I could not shut the leds off when I got it home. I ended up changing the wiring around so it can only be turned on with the switch disabling the remote.
  • I am going to look at a Cougar 330 RBK this morning. I will try to remember to ask about this light..I read you can turn it on and off with the remote too but until I see one in real life, I have no clue.
  • Thks Durhamcutter. I have the same inside switches. It activates the eyebrow decorative led lights but does not do anything for the round LED landing light. :h
  • Have you looked inside next to the control panel, I have an inside living room light and right next to it I have another switch that turns the hitch light and a small aray of led's.
  • I disconnected the battery at the terminals and this finally shut down the landing light (and everything else).
Sounds like another trip to the dealer....seems something is crossed wired and bypassing both the operation switch and the main battery cut off (red key).

  • My trailer has an underside dome light, with switch, that also turns the dual LED docking lights on/off.

Mine is not a Cougar, but I know mine run off the main battery. Yours may have a built in battery, and the switch may be faulty???
