We do not have a Cougar but have extensive use with our 1upusa receiver hitch mount bike rack (1 and 2 bike application) on our cars and limited use on the back of our Trailmanor (TT) into a frame attached rear 2" receiver hitch (150# rating).
First off, I am a longstanding road, mtb and fatbike cyclist and have used this very heavy duty and durable rack for all of the above.
Check the specs and testimonials on their website (and elsewhere like singletracks.com mtbr.com) but IMO, they are more durable than comparable Yakima, Thule, Kuat and our Saris rack.
IMO, the best way to transport a bicycle on an automobile rack is to have one that allows the bike to function as it would while being actively ridden. That is by having the weight of the bike being supported by the inflated tires and not by other methods.
A single bike rack weighs ~25 lbs and a two bike rack ~50lbs and each of our 6 bikes (titanium and alloy road bikes, titanium and alloy frame mtbs, carbon fiber fat-snow bike) weigh under 25#s.
FYI-hope the above and the video are helpful.
