The stress crack in this picture is from the corner of my bedroom slide downwards.
As someone already said, I used a 1/8" drill bit hole at the end of the crack to stop or slow it down. The first one didn't work but the second is doing the trick, so far. I keep water repellant tape over the crack only removing it from time to time to see if it's once again moving.
Keystone Everest's had this problem when turning more than 60 degrees, which I have often done. I'm in the process of building a lap patch to cover and seal it.
