Cracking paint

All,

We had some cosmetic nose damage during a stay at the local RV dealer (Crestview in San Antonio) that was repaired and repainted. Now (almost 18 months later) the paint is cracking, but not flaking off... yet. We're told that we're beyond the warranty on the RV (2015 Jayco Eagle 38.5BHTS) and the paint warranty was one year. Is there anything I can do to help slow the process until I can get it addressed? Clear nail polish? Anything?

  • Well... ****.

Thanks all. Crestview in San Antonio is horribly backed up (took about 4 months to repair/paint the nose damage) and (apparently) does shoddy work. I'll try to call them again about this, but not expecting any miracles, besides, they'll probably just repair it the same way they repaired it the first time.

    Thanks again!
  • What a cr@ppy job by the dealer "fixing" that, especially when THEY did the damage. Were it me, I think I'd go after them, no matter that the "warranty" was 1 year.

  • That looks like a bad job to me either. I was helping a buddy installing the new brake kit and xd wheels on his F-150 when we noticed the same cracking on the part on the rear bumper side. Looks the same cracking and only after about 8 months.
  • If it is cracking, nothing will help. It doesn't matter if water gets in behind it so don't worry about sealing it up. Sounds like they did a poor repair job under the paint.

  • Is it paint or gelcoat? Looks like the repair to the structure was not done correctly.
