Because it wont tow properly. A certain percentage of trailer weight (typically 15-20%) needs to be on the pin to tow straight and true.
Seeing as how you are limited on payload with the 1/2 ton I would seriously look at the new Aluminum version of the Andersen Ultimate 5er hitch. It will get you back a couple hundred pounds of payload vs some other hitches.
Even adding a swivel-wheel platform on a FW can adversely affect pin weight enough to affect towability. Talked to our "hitch guy" here locally, and he put a swivel-wheel on a guy's FW, then took it off after only 2 trips because it wouldn't tow worth beans with a Rhino/Razr on it. Just unloaded the front too much.
