Crooked Demco Pinbox

While I had my trailer in the shop having some frame repairs done I had them install a new Demco GlideRide Pinbox. I picked it up yesterday and noticed something wasn't quite right with it looking at it in the rear view mirror. The factory Lippert 1116 Pinbox that was on the trailer before was perfectly level and as you can see this thing is anything but level. About 1/4" low on the left side in the pic. What would cause this?

  • What did the dealer say when you showed it to him? You have shown him haven't you?
  • No frame repairs were to address cracks in the frame between the wheels. Likley the result of the spring over axle flip I had done about a year ago. Lippert covered under warranty and provided 3 crossmembers they welded in.
  • Was any of those frame repairs involving the pin box structure?

    Regardless....that needs to be corrected

Inspection should be done to verify WHY it is not level.
Pin box mount/Demco mount----should NOT be that much different in sizes of holes/bolts used to allow for that much difference when installed.
  • That would not be acceptable to me. If noticed before leaving the shop, I would have left it for proper installation. If not noticed until I got it home, I would take it back to the shop for correction.
  • You must have paid a fair amount of money to purchase and have that installed? I would take it back and have the installer fix it. I wouldn't be happy with that on my trailer

Looks like you are running a Andersen hitch, hopefully that didn't cause an issue. Been reports of the Andersen bending up a lippert pin box .
  • Not sure if there is any slop in the bolt vrs. hole fit, but I'd try to loosen bolts, level if you can, then tighten up. If you'd rather, ask the installer for a redo. I would not be happy if it was level, before the switch.

  • Bent mount, not leveled before it was tightened, factory jig was out of alignment when the pinbox was built, it's level and your camera wasn't...LOL
