- kennethwoosterExplorerI live in the Texas Panhandle, and go to Amarillo a lot to shop loaf and doctors. We park rv at Fort Amarillo RV Park. Very nice park with very nice people. Would need a reservation. Only problem you would need to catch 40 and go west to Osage street, go north about 1/8 mile turn west a mile or two. Easy to get there and easy to get back on highway to Dumas. this year we stopped at Capulin. Really a nice RV park, and only about 15 miles or so to the east of Raton. Very nice people. If you don't stay in Amarillo try Capulin. Super nice and clean.
- ralphnjoannExplorerThe park in Dumas also has free electricity and a dump station; however, it is very close to railroad tracks so there can be some noise at night.
- TomHaycraftExplorerIf time is on your side, drop 30 minutes south of Amarillo to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, you won't be disappointed.
- TexasShadowExplorer IIthere's a little city park in Dumas, from 287, turn west on 87 and just before the rr tracks, turn right down a little lane to a parking lot in back of a little park.
- padredwNomadWe always stay at the top of Raton Pass. We still think of it as "Cedar Rail" but BB is correct: it has just changed name to "Raton Pass"
We stayed there just over a week ago on our way up to Colorado.
BTW, we are in Santa Fe tonight and about to experience a rain storm in Santa Fe Skies RV Park. - BB_TXNomadWe have stayed at the Raton KOA several times on our annual trip to South Fork, CO. And would stay there again.
There is a small RV park right on top of Raton Pass that we have also stayed at. Great view up there. Used to be called Cedar Rail RV Park, but now named Raton Pass Camp and Cafe. Would stay there again also. Good for overnighting as it is not close to anything else. - txduttExplorerDahlhart, Dumas or Clayton...heck if you're going to Raton may as well just make the rest of the trip-Springs is only 2.5 hours or so up 25 from there...
- ddschumanExplorerWe stayed in Dumas a few times. Nothing special but right off the road with easy access. Not bad for just an overnight stay.
