I considered running it down, I just have not found any nice way to get the wire down the back of the unit. I didnt want to run it down the ladder or leave it exposed.
After seeing the guy who hid his wireless transmitter under the Ac Cover I may go that way. The rear view safety wireless transmitter matched to my camera is $190, Might just abandon my prewire in the truck and go simple...
It depends on what you are using the camera for. If you want continuous viewing down the road, the Rear View Safety wireless camera is not going to keep up. I tried the RVS-CW-CAM wireless and it worked fine for backing up or standing still, but once you started rolling down the road the wireless couldn't handle the rapid changing data coming at it from the change in landscape and it would lock up. It would actually show a car stuck in the rear view that had already passed me.
I returned it and went with the Rear View Safety RVS-770613-213 hard wired all the way up. They make a nice coiled wire hookup kit between the truck and trailer included with the camera (same price as wireless). Took a couple of 5 hr days for me to run the wire through the RV and the truck, so $700 isn't too bad, depending on how your rear clip on the RV is configured. I was successful in getting all the wires hidden behind the marker lights, down the side and into the belly area. I even go the wire pulled up to the pin box with nothing showing.
I use mine to triple tow, but it also is fantastic for keeping an eye on traffic directly behind me. I have to re-position the camera a bit for highway vs triple tow, as the field of view is not quite wide enough to see all the way down to the hitch and the road behind me at the same time. Picture is fantastic on the 7" screens. You can spend $350 more and go through your truck NAV if you have it, but I didn't do that.
