I have never seen or heard of a cap delaminating, they are usually a fiberglass molded product. Is the unit you are looking at new or used and the brand would be helpfull. Back in 2005 Jayco had some problems with side walls and 2005&6&7 Forest River had problems- These problems were caused by the glue not water. Be carefull
