We nhave the same truck you are looking at but the 2005 version...excellent truck!

As for the tailgate it comes down to personal choice...stock tailgate, no tailgate, V-notch tailgate, mesh tailgate are the many different ways you can go...

As for us we have the steel V-notch tailgate so we don't have to worry about putting it down or up...works for us!
