One other question since we haven't used our water yet but will this weekend and this concerns the switches for the gas side and the electric side of the water heater...

I know for the gas you just switch on the gas and it automatically lights...does the electric switch work the same way or is there more than one switch I need to worry about when using the electric side of the water heater?
