Ok guys time to listen up here...
Took our 35RLTS out this past Friday and set up at a local RV park Friday afternoon and everything went fine...
Rained all day Friday and Friday night and when I woke up Saturday morning the rain had finally stopped. As I usually do I brought each slide in to get the water off the awnings over the slides but when I got to the super slide (stove/refrig/couch) it was a no go! Checked everything we could and still nothing (pushing the switch in or out produced nothing, not even a grunt from the slide motor or even a click to show the solenoid was connecting). Finally had to call a local Rv dealer and he decided to send someone out to help us (very much appreciated but more on that later). After searching everywhere and finding nothing he finally found the problem...he took the slide switch off the wall and proceeded to pull the switch wires out of the wall and noticed a burning smell...what ended up happening is the 2 black wires that control the in and out movements had come loose (were not properly installed in the first place?????) and were now loose and basic electrical knowledge shows as these 2 wires grew farther apart the more they burned and that is what they were doing. Took off the burned connector cap and put all the wires back together using black electrical tape and all was well. What all this means to us is the fire danger that was present all day Friday and all of Friday night...scared the ?*&%$#@ out of us when we found out what had happened or what might had happened. So might want to check those slide switch wire connections...
One other thing we learned...to get to the slide motors you have to climb under the Designer and remove the 16 screws on the center access panel to ven get to the slide motor and the only way to manually bring in a slide that won't move is to finally get to the slide motor and either: (1) clip the rd and black wires and hook up to a battery via battery cables which will bring the slide back in; or (2) the slide motor has a gear box and on the end of the gear box is a nut (1/2") and using a 1/2" ratchet you can slowly bring the slide back in); there is no outside manual crank to bring the slides back in you have to crawl under and do the above.
Finally thank you to Chris Galvanek of Galvanek's RV and Autos in Cadillac, MI on M55 inside the Manistee National Forest. Chris came out on a Saturday afternoon about 4:30pm and fixed our problem above and for that I send him a big thank you which means for everyone else if you are in the area and need Rv help give him a call and you may be surprised...nice guy and a local dealer who went above and beyond to help us and would likely mean great service after the sale should you buy a new RV from there...
