Sorry to hear from those that have been experiencing problems. On the other hand, routine maintenance on these diesels is a bit hard to take too....just spent over $400 (Canadian so about $300 in real money, i.e. USD)for an oil change, fuel filter, and rear differential lube change. Over $200 just for the rear differential every 15,000 miles. The Service Manager who helped himself to $750 of my hard-earned cash for work on Jan's PT last month said it was because of the gold leaf they put in it.:S
Better news, Jan and I just bought a laptop so we can stay connected on our retirement travels....did I mention I was retiring?:p...under 6 months to go now. Even better...we're starting to see some above-freezing temperatures. There might be an end to this winter yet.
Finally, hey Cruz, I hope you and Beth have a very good and safe trip. When I was a kid my Mom's criteria for going on a picnic was that if she could see "enough sun to make a sailor's pants"; we went. Hopefully you'll get lucky and find a patch of sun along the coast. From what I've seen of winter pictures the surf can be extraordinary at this time of the year. I'll bet the Devil's Churn at Cape Perpetua will be wild!
