Check around the floor of the slide. Is carpet rolling back under? Any objects blocking complete closure? Check notched shaft underneath, is it clean or is there a grease/dirt build up preventing complete closure. Before attempting adjustment, check all around the perimeter of the slide inside and outside. Something may be preventing full closure.

I have reluctantly become experienced in slides.
