Don - cruzExplorerCongrats and what a Christmas present for the both of you !!!
We celebrated 2 years since we took delivery of our 35RLTS the end of November, by moving into it full time! OK ... so it's only been 2 weeks, but we are absolutely LOVING it !!
Everything we own now is either in a 10x20 storage unit or in our 5th wheel ... it is so "liberating" I can't explain it.
We close on the sale of our house in one week. The appraisal came in and looks like everything is in order for an on time close ! :)
No plans beyond that ... but just knowing we "can if we wanna" is sooooooo cool !
Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas ... or a Happy Holiday, however you choose to celebrate.
Howard & Beth - L_MMusicExplorerWhoo Hoo!!!!!! Congrats, Don and Penni!! We just hit our two-year anniversary of taking delivery of our rig and hitting the road. We STILL absolutely LOVE IT!!!!
That's a very nice Merry Christmas present to each other! Hope to see you out there on the road! - double_clutchExplorerHello
Penni and I have taken the leap into the unknown. We have sold the old beater class A that we had for years. We have purchased a newer Ram 3500 in great condition. Now we are picking up a Jayco 2010 35 rlts next Tuesday. I will be retiring for the 2nd time at the end of March or April and off we go the two of us, chasing new adventures
:D

RE: Water Heater ... What happened ... was it not heating ??
CRUZ
The problem with the water heater occurred when we were running both propane and electric water heating simultaneously. In that condition, which is how we normally operate for quick water heat recovery, the water would heat to normal temperature initially but then it would not hold the temperature and we'd have luke warm water. I checked with an RV technician in Florence, Oregon when we were on route to Sunset Bay State Park outside of Coos Bay, and he suggested running just on the electric heater. As it turned out, and for whatever reason, the water stayed hot on just the electric heater. Apparently there are two thermostats on the hot water heater, one controlling the propane heater and the other the electric element. I assume that the thermostat on the propane side was faulty and that it somehow effected the operation of the electric heater.
In any event it is good info to know that if hot water heating issues arise that a person can try selecting the heater mode to see if it helps.
Cruz, we'll be in touch as soon as we're set up in Val Vista RV Resort. I shovelled 6" of wet snow off the drive way yesterday so so far as I'm concerned it can't be soon enough. I know I shouldn't be such an old curmugeon but at my age there's a lot to be said for winter in the desert sunshine compared to being at home in the cold and snow.
Cheers,

.... never did get any details on the problem with the water heater, the dealer just replaced the thermostats.

THX Dave ...
All the inspections went well, now just waiting on the appraisal.
We're really cleaning house and intend on moving into the 5th Wheel in the next few weeks. We're both very excited to experience that "freedom" we've heard so much about !
Picked a very nice 55+ park just outside Prescott Valley to call home for awhile.
RE: Water Heater ... What happened ... was it not heating ??
Look forward to seeing you both next month ! Have a safe trip down.
CRUZ - L_MMusicExplorerrvrev2, Congrats on the new to you rig. Will you post some pics?
- rvrev2ExplorerJust picked up my new to me '95 Designer 3430 RK. In the past I rented a 30' travel trailer, and I have also been borrowing a Bounder motor home. Now I finally have one all my own. This thing is HUGE!
- 2QAYLExplorerHappy Thanks Giving to all our American friends and best wishes for the coming holiday season.
Also congratulations Cruz, I sincerely hope that the sale of your home proceeds without any issues.
We're enjoying the first months of retirement tremendously and are looking forward to our first real "snow-birding" experience this winter when we will spend 3 months in Mesa, AZ. We'll be watching for our first opportunity weather-wise after the New Year to make our way south.
We had a couple of minor problems with the Designer while on our recent trip to Oregon, including a sticky bedroom slide and a glitchy thermostat in the water heater but our dealer claims to have fixed those issues so hopefully all will be well for this coming trip. I never did get any details on the problem with the water heater, the dealer just replaced the thermostats.
Cheers,
Dave
