- loydtExplorerHey, guess I will chime in! We have been using our 35 RLTS a pretty good bit here in NC. Now that the NCSU football games are over (it goes to every home game, some away) I guess we will try to squeeze in a few trips to the beach, mountains, etc. Mine is going up Thursday to the dealer to get the wheel bearings serviced and a few other minor issues. Great thing about living here is I never have to winterize this thing. If we get into the 20's for a night or so, I just go out and turn on the heat and the water heater.
I am going to be erecting a cover to park mine under after Xmas. I have the trusses on order already. I will let you know how the progress goes. - L_MMusicExplorer:)It's good to hear from y'all! We're down in sunny Florida already and not missing the snow one bit!
Good news on the refrigerator. Remember it was out of whack in September and we had a tech look at it. He thought it was the door seal. Turns out is was the "thermister", which I think is a fancy word for thermostat. We changed it out ourselves with some guidance from the service manager of an RV dealer. Had to get one with a longer than normal cord. THAT one was bad (next dealer said about half of them are bad IN the rigs and half of surplus supply is bad, too). The second one we got works fine. No more frozen milk! - M_GO_BLUE1ExplorerNO....BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR from Michigan
For those of us that this applies to...make sure to exercise your built-in generators at least once a month for a minimum of 1-hour under 1/2 load...unfortunately for us this is all the thrill we have with the Designer during winter until Spring comes...:( - CHV_FRKExplorerLucky dogs.... We haven't been able to get out for about 2 months, and I'm not sure when we will. I did just get an in-bed tank/toolbox combo. Not sure when I'll be able to get that installed either... - eaherrmannExplorerGlad to hear folks are still camping these days..... We heading off to Ga in a week to meet our son returning from Iraq. Then it's off to Everglades for rest of year. Y'all have a great Christmas/New Year. :)
- TravlingmanExplorer IIWe just finished 13 nights out in ours. Same campground visiting family. Had a great time and the the fix for the heating worked. I know, as we only had 2 days where it was above 40 degrees, only 1 night where it wasn't below freezing. Got down to 15 one night, wind chill was 5. Most other nights were a balmy 22-28. Had 1 measurable snowfall, around 1". Anyway, the heat is now balanced throughout the camper and not burning up in the bedroom.
One thing I noticed was the water pump is extremely noisy. Sounds like it is going to vibrate through the floor. Going to try and pad the feet to quiten it down. Also noticed it would loose prime and have trouble picking up water out of the tank.
I know I have said it before, but every time we go camping with this camper, I like it more. Even DW says the same. - cruzExplorerHey 2QAYL ... When you posted about the leaks, and even mentioned them to me when we spoke, I immediatly checked our connections before leaving on our trip. All looked good, except I forgot about the one behind the toilet ... :S
Yep ... woke up one night and walked into a wet floor !! 1/4 twist and it stopped. At least we caught it before it did any damage ... I think !!
Hope you had a good trip home ... and missed the snow ???
Anyway ... sure has been quiet on this thread lately ...
We had a wonderful trip up to Oregon. Longest day we ran over 500 miles, shortest was today coming home ... about 345 miles.
From Prescott our first night was in Bakersfield, CA in a great park called "A Country RV Park"
Took I-5 North and spent the next night in a KOA in Mount Shasta, CA !! there was ONE 5th wheel(us), ONE C Class and then 2 of the camping cabins were occupied ... AND THAT WAS IT !! hit something like 22 degrees overnight.
Third day we boogied right up to the Oregon Coast and stayed at the KOA in Waldport, OR, for 5 nights... Very nice KOA with new owners that are working hard to spruce the place up. it was pretty full over Thanksgiving.
Heading back to AZ we left Waldport and made it to Susanville, CA. Another great park ... Susanville RV Park ...
From there came down thru Reno/Sparks, NV, down 95 and 160 into Pahrump, NV and spent 2 nights there ... in a private, membership campground (a winery if THAT tells you anything !!.)
Then home.
We love this 5'r, as I'm sure all of you do yours. My wife is constantly saying how comfortable it is, and that it feels like "home". 'course all you guys know that sure "helps" when DW is a "happy camper" :B
Truck and trailer did great .. only issue was the same ol same ol with the fridge. Kept a thermometer in the freezer the entire trip. Range of temps ran from -1 up to 28 degrees. Looks like every other day it would rise ... almost like it's cycling. Problem is, it ruins my ICE CREAM !!!
Taking it in tomorrow for the dealer to take another look at it. Also going to have them lube the wheel bearings ... I understand this is recommended once a year or every 10K miles ???
Sorry this is so long .......
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Kinda was...OK won't do that again.
Update to group, RV direct discounting to "cost" for some of their '08 designers. - texasjaycoExplorer

The first was a loose and leaky water connection to the hot water tap at the bathroom sink. No a big deal to tighten and I think we caught it before the water did any damage...but very annoying and so very preventable with a little care and attention on Jayco's part.
My 291 RLTS did the same thing, and like you, I tightened it up. That stopped it for a while, so I tightened some more. This went on for a while, so I took it to the dealer and they replaced the fitting under the sink under warranty. The guy said there has been a problem with the fittings from the factory.
Mark - 2QAYLExplorerHi CHV_FRK, I don't have the capacity to post photos right now because I'm dependent on community computers but I will post some to a suitable site, or e-mail them to you, when we return home next month.
