Dexter goes above and beyond

I had an out of alignment axle with the Lippert adjustable washers, so moved it, and made an appointment with them as I couldn't quite get it far enough, plus the tire was worn badly on the inside. Lippert did their part, then discovered my Alko axle was bent. Alko has been bought out by Dexter, and Dave at Dexter did a remarkable thing. He arranged for two completely new 8k axles to be installed to replace the (so called 8k) ones that came with the unit.

I've never been so impressed by a company that went out of their way in Elkhart to fix my problem. Kudo's
  • Do you have a Lippert Correct Track axle system like mine? The washers have different length sides to allow for alignment. I had moved my axle 1/2" to align it only to find out from Lippert that I should have only gone 1/4" on each side. They aligned the system to within an 1/8" before the new axles were installed.

If you have this system you could do the alignment yourself. They have a chart to follow on their web site.

We've been 2000 miles on the new axles and everything seems to be fine.

I have a 2012 Montana and put on a set of Towmax, bad tires. One wearing badly, one out of shape. Tires two years old. I put on a set of Sailun and I am making a trip to Mexico and back. if the Sailun's wear unevenly, I have an axle problem. I am in Washington State, will I have to go clear to Indiana for a fix?
For about $150.-$200. you can go to a big truck suspension shop and have it aligned. Problem solved in just a couple hours..Can't buy the fuel to Indiana for that...

I had some out of alignment axles that was causing my Towmax 'tires' to wear unevenly and did exactly that. Then I put on some nice new G614s and lotsa miles later they still look new.

Great to hear the OP got some quality care. Seems pretty rare when it comes to RV issues.

And I wouldn't wait until after your trip. Why ruin new tires! Get it aligned now and end the worry.

x2. Better to spend $150-200.00 now then that plus 1-2 new tires. If you have uneven wear you have an alignment problem. An out of round tire is just a bad tire. BTDT twice now.

  • We too, had an axle replaced by Dexter. After shipping the old one back to Dexter, it was found to be off on camber causing outside wear on one tire. Dexter is tops on customer service and satisfaction in my book!!!!
  • Have had great every time I have gone back to Elkhart to get something fixed.
