Despite what you hear the HR34-700 Genie will also run Whole Home DVR service on its ethernet port. I have a H22-200 that works just fine off the HR34-700 for playback of recorded programming on ethernet.

I don't have ethernet in every room at home, but they added a DECA device that enables WHDVR so the remotes (C31's) can access the genie using that connection for whole home dvr service too (via their coax).
I would expect that to work in the FW without having to run ethernet.
this DECA also adds the internet onto the coax, so that the genie and others can access youtube, etc.
