Disc Brakes

I got mine from Ron Russell with Performance Trailer Braking, and like stated many times... I will never have another fifth wheel without them... Ron also has rolling install crews... Depending on how fast you want it done , and where you are, they will come to you and do the complete install.. VERY HAPPY CAMPER !!

By the way , if you also want to upgrade to 17.5 wheels and tires , he does those also ...

I converted mine with the 13" rotors and 2.5" piston calipers about 3 yrs ago. Kodiak disc kit and Carlisle 1600 psi actuator. I pieced my own lines together, cut to fit and bent all the steel lines and double flared the ends. I took a picture of the black marks on the road when I tested them. I love the oiled bearings and covers. Craig

Did mine this summer, wasn't too difficult. I used steel lines, eTrailer sells a 66" line that is intended as the crossover line. Used Kodiak disc and Titan pump, that pump is excellent. One trick I realized is that with a pump, bleeding the brakes is a one person task. I just used 20 ft of wire and a switch connected to the breakaway wire and I could control the pump from any wheel position.

Very common subject - with lots of HAPPY campers!

IMO - only reason to SEARCH - is to determine which brand, and whether to DIY or have it done.

We had our drums replaced with discs a few weeks ago my MOR/ryde when they installed the new independent suspension system. As other posters have said, will never pull with drums again (especially the cheap non-self-adjusting brakes many of the high-volume manufacturers are installing).

Disc are starting to be standard on Higher end units and optional on many others. I still swear that we stop better towing now than the TV solo.

did that about 6 years ago. Not a hard job to do and you will NEVER buy another trailer without disc brakes. I know I won't. Had I not had disc's there would had been a black bear in my grill one time. Another thing, I have a leaky grease seal and the grease slings right by the rotor so no grease is getting on the pads. Someday I'll get around to fixing it but no worrys, no grease on pads or rotor. I can't believe that the RV manufactuers still use drum brakes when all cars use at least one axle with disc. Oh yes I can, they might cost $2 bucks more.

I had my electric brakes swapped tor disc breaks and after a couple of trips I will never ever have another rv with out them. I have looked at a couple of new 5th wheels that did not have them and when I told the dealer ship I would buy the 5th wheel if they removed the electrics and replaced with disc brakes they quit talking to me. They lost a sale because I will never tow with out them ever again....
